FAQs

  • Who can seek medical treatment at Sweden Ghana Medical Centre?

SGMC is opened to the general public. We accept referrals from both local and overseas doctors and medical facilities. We also welcome patient walk-ins without referrals.

  • What if I need to stay for the duration of treatment?

Generally, your consultation and treatments can be done on an outpatient basis. However, for our patients traveling a long distance and who need to stay for the duration of treatment, our case managers can arrange suitable accommodation for you. Please let us know in advance if you have any accommodation needs.

  • How do I get to SGMC?

For our foreign patients, arrangements can be made to pick you up from the airport upon request. Both local and foreign patients can also download maps and driving directions under the patient guide tab on the website.

  • How do I get emergency help after hours?

SGMC operates between 8am and 5pm. Should you require emergency assistance after hours then, please visit your local emergency health center and then inform them of your current diagnosis and treatment. If you need to reach your oncologist or case manager please call +233 262253328

  • Can I visit SGMC for other conditions other than cancer?

Yes, although we are a cancer facility, we have general practitioner services available.

  • How long do I have to wait before beginning treatment?

Our oncologists work with their teams to ensure you begin your personalized treatment as soon as possible. The average time to start treatment is 2-5days.

  • What is a chemo cycle?

Chemotherapy treatment will be scheduled to take place in repeat sessions, called cycles. These cycles may repeat weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
