Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC) has successfully administered Lutetium-based radiopharmaceutical (Lu-177PSMA) treatment to patients, marking another significant milestone in its continued advancement of specialized prostate cancer care in Ghana.

Lu-177 PSMA, an innovative radioactive targeted therapy, delivers radiation directly to targeted prostate cancer cells whiles limiting radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.

This innovation complements the Centre’s existing nuclear medicine and oncology capabilities, including PET-CT imaging, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and cancer surgery all in its quest to take away the burden of cancer within Ghana and the West African sub-region.

Bringing Precision Care Closer to Patients

For patients requiring Lu-177 PSMA therapy, access to treatment can be an important part of the cancer-care journey. By developing this service locally, SGMC is reducing the need for patients to travel outside the West African sub-region to seek such specialized care.
