SGMC, GAEC – SNAS: SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

The Sweden Ghana Medical Centre Limited, SGMC on the 10th of July 2013 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, GAEC, to establish a collaborative working relationship between the two parties.

The partnership according to a statement by Ms. Korkor Agboka, PR/ Marketing Director of SGMC shall provide the opportunity for highly skilled and qualified personnel of SGMC Ltd, to teach in the academic training of MPhil and PhD students in the field of Medical Physics from GAEC.

She added that, SGMC shall make available the clinical facility and equipment for the training.

Also speaking, Joshua Tetteh, Chief Executive Officer SGMC, threw more light on the fact that the collaboration will help in the development and improvement of cancer care in West Africa, which is one of the objectives of SGMC. The practical training and research will equip students with latest technology and best practices when it comes to health care.

He also added, “It shall enhance the reputation of SGMC as a Centre Of Excellence not only for the treatment of cancer patients but also an exceptional research and training centre”.

SNAS is a post graduate institution established by GAEC in collaboration with The University of Ghana for teaching, training, research and to develop human resource in the field of Nuclear and Allied Sciences, (School Of Nuclear and Allied Sciences).

Therefore SGMC and GAEC-SNAS seek to collaborate in areas of teaching, training and developing of human resource in cancer research and also the use of state-of-the-art techniques in cancer treatment for the Ghanaian populace and its West African Sub regions.
