Dr Clement Edusa - CEO / Medical Director

Dr. Clement Egyin Edusa has been with SGMC since 2014, first as Head of Oncology, and in 2016, being appointed as Medical Director. Dr. Edusa has had extensive training in the field of oncology, having received his initial medical education in Russia – followed by specialization in clinical and radiation oncology at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana. He has also completed advanced oncology training in South Africa. In addition to being registered to practice in Ghana, Dr. Edusa is a registered member of the European Society of Medical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Owing to his in-depth oncology expertise especially around cancer treatment in Africa, he has both published papers and presented at international conferences on issues such as Prostate Cancer Management, Breast Cancer Risks, and Treating Cancers Prevalent in Ghana. Dr. Edusa is supported by a widely experienced team of medical oncology professionals at SGMC who have also received acclaim for their work at international level.

Edward Banson - General Manager

Edward Banson is a Chartered Marketing Professional with over 20 years’ experience in marketing various commercial and non-profit brands across several industries in Ghana. He was employed first as a Marketing Manager at SGMC in October 2014, and later appointed as Head of Case Management, where he and his team handle all doctor referrals, patient communications, medical logistics and treatment support. Edward attended Central University College. He also holds a Master’s Degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He has also attended several seminars and conferences in oncology both locally and internationally since being employed at the cancer center. Edward collaborates with health professionals around the West African sub-region to provide assistance in oncology care to people living with cancer in this part of the world.

Dr Emmanuel Amankwaa-Frempong - Head Of Clinic / Radiation Oncologist

Dr. Emmanuel Amankwaa-Frempong holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine with a research background in Breast Cancer Genetics and Tumor Markers. He received his initial medical education in Ghana – followed by specialization in clinical and radiation oncology at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Ghana. He has also completed a radiation oncology fellowship training at the Cork University Hospital in the Republic of Ireland. He is registered to practice in Ghana. Before joining SGMC, Dr. Amankwaa-Frempong was the project manager in charge of an ongoing cancer project organized by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in Ghana. He has both published papers and presented at international conferences on issues such as Breast Cancer Chemotherapy Response, and Radiotherapy Treatment Planning. Currently, Dr. Amankwaa-Frempong is one of SGMC’s on site Clinical Oncologists and the Head of Research, responsible for driving all research activities at SGMC and for leading collaborations of educational programs and projects with other health institutions.

Ahmed Owusu-Ansah Acheamfour - Senior Pharmacist

Ahmed Owusu-Ansah Acheamfour is our Pharmacist (Oncology) who joined the SGMC team in 2018. He is a Registered Pharmacist and a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana with over 4 years practicing experience. Prior to joining SGMC, he worked as the Pharmacist-In-Charge and Head of Pharmacy at Raphal Medical Centre in Tema where he led a team of professionals to provide the best pharmaceutical care for patients in general medicine for 4 years. He had worked as an Intern Pharmacist and then a Contract Pharmacist at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Mampong-Akuapem where he was a store pharmacist and in charge of the Anti-Retroviral Therapy Unit of the hospital from October 2012 to March 2014. He seeks to provide the very best in pharmaceutical care to all and sundry with the smile on a patient’s face his ultimate gain. At SGMC, Ahmed has received requisite training in the handling, reconstitution and storage of cytotoxic medicines.

Caleb Oppong-Wiafe - Lead Pharmacist

Caleb Oppong-Wiafe is SGMC’s Oncology Pharmacist. He obtained his B. Pharm at KNUST. Following that he had 9 months clinical internship at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital and a 3-month community internship at The Mall Pharmacy. Before joining SGMC in 2016, Caleb worked with various clinics and pharmaceutical institutions in the country. As a strong advocate of child health, Caleb volunteers with groups such as Lovebridge and Afadjato pharmacists to provide health and social needs to orphans and children on the street.  At SGMC Caleb has received training in chemotherapy reconstitution, handling and storage of cytotoxic drugs and post-chemo follow-up of patients. Currently, he is pursuing a certification in Project Management. Caleb is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.

Cecile Akue - Lead Case Coordinator

Cecile Akue is a bilingual case support officer at SGMC who joined the case management unit in 2017. Cecile’s job is to provide administrative support for SGMC’s Case Coordinators as well as families, sponsors and patients, helping them to access the SGMC facility, navigate through clinical processes and complete their treatment outcomes. She ensures our Francophone patients in particular can complete their treatments with efficient support for their logistical needs. Cecile received her degree in Business Law at the University of Nongo Conakry and also studied English at the Centre of Languages and Professional English Studies. She did training in Health and Safety Management at Phanoeco Ltd. Cecile previously worked as an intern secretary at Societe des Eaux Guinea, and also spent a one-year internship in academia teaching entrepreneurship after the successful completion of her English studies.

Enyonam Adzo Fugar - Head Of Nursing / Oncology Nurse

Enyonam Adzo Fugar (Chemotherapy Nurse) RGN, Deg. Oncology Nursing, MD Nursing and a member of the Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana. Enyonam had her initial nursing training in Ho Nurses Training College and obtained her Diploma in General nursing in 2008, before working as a general nurse for 5 years. She subsequently trained as an Oncology nurse and obtained her first Degree in Oncology Nursing in 2013 at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town, South Africa. She did her internship at Groote Schuur Hospital, St Luke Hospice, Rondebosch Oncology Unit – all in South Africa. Enyonam obtained her Master’s Degree in the same field, where her primary research was on the role of nurses in the care of cancer-diagnosed patients (Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Bellville-Cape Town, South Africa). She worked as a chemotherapy nurse in the National Center for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine in the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for almost two years before officially joining SGMC in 2016 as a chemotherapy nurse. Here in SGMC, she sees to day-to-day activities of our patients undergoing chemotherapy, arranging counseling sessions for new patients to commence chemotherapy and handling follow-up care for patients. She is one of the few oncology trained nurses in Ghana.

Promise Ahiagbenyo - Lead Radiotherapist

Promise Ahiagbenyo is a certified radiation therapist with over 10 years of clinical experience. He obtained his B.Sc. (Therapy Radiography) from the University of Ghana, Legon, and subsequently trained at the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, Korlebu for a year. During this period, Promise volunteered with various organizations including AdCancer – a non-governmental organization involved in cancer education and screening programs. Promise joined SGMC in 2012 and currently serves as the head of the Radiotherapy and Imaging Department. Some of his roles include: coordinating patient flow and treatment schedules with the case management team, training medical physics students from the School of nuclear and allied sciences (SNAS) on the use of SGMC’s linear accelerator(LinAc), and assisting in research with physicists from the Ghana Atomic Energy Council, GAEC. Promise currently holds MPhil in Radiation Protection from the University of Ghana and is a member of the Ghana Society of Radiographers and is registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.

Charles Offei Yeboah - Case & Logistics Officer

Charles Offei Yeboah is our Case Logistics Officer. His education was at the West African Secondary School followed by studies at Modern Technical School where he received training as a telecommunication technician. He also took courses such as business law and cargo handling at the Aviation Institute in Tema; after which he interned at the Ghana Ports and Harbour’s Authority. Charles worked at SeedShare Microfinance as a customer care representative, receiving training in marketing and funds mobilization. At SGMC, Charles spends a lot of time driving patients to and from treatments, collecting cancer drugs and answering patients’ questions and phone calls.

Henry Essel - Senior Nursing Officer

Henry Essel had his nursing training at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in the year 2018 after successfully writing and passing the licensing exams conducted by the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Ghana. Before SGMC, he worked as the head of nursing at Life HealthCare Medical, Dental and Optical centre in Accra. He also worked as a Part-time lecturer and head of Nursing at Kingson Management and Health Institute, Dansoman. Here in Sweden Ghana Medical Centre, he sees to the day-to-day running of the OPD, performing health assessments for patients on detention and outpatients. He administers prescribed medications and assists in the administration of chemotherapy. He is also in charge of infection prevention and control within the facility. He is hardworking and extremely passionate about his job. It is his dream to see improvement in general efforts to ensure patients’ safety in a safe working environment.

Ruth Beulah Awotwe - Medical Physicist

Ruth Beulah is a medical physicist with experience in radiotherapy physics, nuclear medicine, and radiology as well as radiation protection. She gained her clinical expertise and experience from Komfo Anokye and Korle Bu Teaching Hospitals. Ruth holds a BSc in Physics from KNUST and a Master’s Degree in medical physics from the University of Aberdeen. She is registered with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Ghana, and a registered member of the following associations, the Ghana Society of Medical Physicists (GSMP), Women in Physics Ghana (WiPG), and an international affiliate associate member of Institute of physics and engineering in medicine (IPEM, UK). Ruth Beulah is fueled by her passion for understanding the nuances of Oncology and cancer care. She considers herself a ‘forever student,’ eager to both build on her academic foundations in physics and stays in tune with the latest medical physics technologies through continued coursework and professional developments. She is passionate about patient care and bringing the newest technology to make big changes in patient care.

Adikwor Ewoenam Puplampu - Research & Case Officer

Adikwor is a dedicated, versatile and result-oriented Public Health Scientist who aspires to contribute to knowledge in the field of oncology through research. She holds a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics from School of Public Health, University of Ghana, where she was trained on how to use information in health, electronic health systems, resources and devices to acquire, store, retrieve and manage health data and conduct research. Prior to she joining SGMC, she was a research coordinator working with School of Public Health, UG on World Health Organization (WHO) funded projects. At SGMC, she coordinates all activities related to training, teaching and research and also ensures patients go through impeccable treatment procedures.

Gadeka Dormenyo Dominic - Principal Radiographer

Dominic Gadeka Dormenyo was hired as a Senior Radiographer for SGMC in 2017 to manage CT and MRI diagnostic imaging procedures. His responsibilities as an integral part of the Radiotherapy Unit include performing prescribed imaging studies according to clinic protocols. He furthermore collaborates with the Radiation Oncologist and multidisciplinary therapy team in assessing clinical findings of performed diagnostic studies. He also assists in quality assurance procedures for the CT and MRI regarding image quality and other dosimetry parameters.

Stephanie Esther Hayibor - Nursing Assistant

Stephanie Esther Hayibor has been a nursing assistant at SGMC since 2013. We depend on Stephanie to make a positive first impression as she is amongst the first people our patients see when they come to SGMC for treatment. Stephanie had her training at Narh-Bita school of nursing, where she was trained to assist doctors and nurses to deliver quality care to patients. At SGMC she prepares patients by taking and recording vital signs. She also helps to prepare treatment rooms and is responsible for storing and setting up medical equipment. Patient care and wellbeing have always been her hallmark. Stephanie previously received training at Lancet Laboratory as a phlebotomist, learning to take patient samples and specimens. She has also received customer care training, industrial fire protection and basic life support training while she has been at SGMC.

Our SGMC housekeeping team is continuously busy dusting, mopping, and sweeping patient reception and treatment areas, clinical planning and imaging units as well as administrative offices. They maintain a very high level of cleanliness and hygiene and are all specially trained in infection control practices and patient caregiving support. You will also often find them helping out with supporting the Case Management team with patient logistics such as transferring patients to and from wheelchairs.

Bernard Elorm Adem - Biomedical Engineer

Bernard Elorm Adem is an ambitious and responsible biomedical engineer who is ready to learn and diversify his work experience. Bernard joined SGMC in 2021 from Ho Teaching Hospital and holds an MPhil degree in Medical Imaging Instrumentation from the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and a BSc. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Ghana. Before joining SGMC, Bernard was the former GRASSAG vice president of UHAS and a research assistant at the Department of Medical Imaging in UHAS. In 2020, He was one of the few applicants selected to represent Ghana in the ACU Commonwealth Future Student Leadership workshop in India. Bernard is a proud member of the Ghana Society of Biomedical Engineers. At SGMC, Bernard inspects the functional status of all equipment and provides a certificate to that effect. He confirms the status of the equipment in inventory for purposes of assuring end-users as to whether the equipment, especially the radiotherapy equipment, can still be used or otherwise help address concerns raised by the radiotherapists and provide documentary evidence. He also performs preventive and corrective maintenance and calibration of all equipment installed.

Rhoda Enam Agbanu - Accounts Cashier

Rhoda Enam Agbanu is an enthusiastic and committed individual with an initiative to achieve both personal and corporate goals. She has developed a structured and responsible approach towards her work and her team in order to achieve the objectives on time and with excellence. She is a good team player who is determined, reliable, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. Her career objective is to become an international financial data analyst, and actively contribute to the development of the emerging financial sectors in Ghana, the African region, and beyond. She is a student, of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She also has a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Biomedical Physics Option, from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Rhoda was hired onto the Financial Team in 2021 as a Cashier, where she is primarily responsible for handling client payments in a friendly and efficient manner. She processes all payments and adjustments through the accounting system while validating necessary documentation. Rhoda is also in charge of handling petty cash requests for approval and disbursement. She works closely with the Accounts Officer to prepare cheques for signature, and she performs daily cash reconciliation and bank deposits – keeping proper records of all transactions.

Josephine Esi Kpodo - Biomedical Engineer

Josephine Esi Kpodo joined SGMC in 2020, as national service personnel with a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Ghana. After her service, she was employed as a Biomedical Engineer for the hospital, where she ensures the effective functioning of all medical equipment. This she does by performing preventive and corrective maintenance and calibration of all equipment installed, as well as confirming the status of the equipment in inventory for purposes of assuring end-users as to whether the equipment is fully operational. In addition, she assists the human resource department.

Rexford Adu Ayeh - Clinic Orderly

Eric Akweteh - Transport & Logistics Officer

Eric Akweteh has had several logistical roles at SGMC since he was appointed at SGMC in 2012. Initially he managed transport functions, but his role was later expanded to include supporting the Business Services unit and its finance functions especially. In between conveying SGMC patients to and from their oncology treatments, Eric is an integral part of the drug procurement team and is regularly on the road to suppliers. He still oversees vehicle maintenance and repairs, and manages vehicle record keeping.

Eric Amoako - Maintenance Supervisor

Eric Amoako has been with SGMC since 2011, and is the Maintenance Lead for the company where he is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functioning of our facilities as part of the Technical Services unit. Eric supervises all maintenance services such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, waste disposal, recycling, installations, troubleshooting and building repairs. Before joining SGMC, Eric worked with Solana Electrical where he acted as Assistant Supervisor on projects at 37 Military Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Eric completed certified courses as an Electrical Engineering Technician in 2007, and recently became certified as an Electrical Wiring Professional through the Energy Commission training in 2015.

Eric Gyampo - Maintenance Officer

Eric Gyampo joined SGMC’s Maintenance Team in 2015 as a Maintenance Assistant to primarily support requests for air-conditioning servicing and repairs. He also assists the Maintenance Team Lead in areas such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, waste disposal, recycling, installations, troubleshooting and facility repairs. He completes daily maintenance checks and performs other regular preventative maintenance tasks.

Faustina Owusu - Housekeeper

Festus Adinkrah-Kosopre - Finance Manager

Festus Adinkrah Kosopre plays a key role in SGMC’s Business Services unit as the Finance Manager. He joined the company in 2014. In addition to managing accounting compliance with statutory authorities, Festus is also responsible for compiling, analyzing and preparing SGMC’s financial information into required reporting formats. Festus completed his BSc in Accounting at the University of Professional Studies (Accra) in 2014, and graduates with an MBA in Accounting and Finance through the same institution in July 2018. Before his studies, Festus held an administrative position at the Customary Land Secretariat at Drobo, Brong Ahafo and was a research assistant at Waltex Consulting. Festus is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA).

Kingsley Obeng - Housekeeper

Kingsley Obeng joined SGMC as a housekeeper in 2017. Our SGMC housekeeping team is continuously busy dusting, mopping and sweeping patient reception and treatment areas, clinical planning and imaging units as well as administrative offices. They maintain a very high level of cleanliness and hygiene, and are all specially trained in infection control practices and patient caregiving support. Lia Ssidji Komla Nicolas - Senior Catering Officer

Komla Lia Ssidji has a special role at SGMC: he has been catering for employees and patients from when the Company started, as far back as 2008. Nico as he is affectionately called, is in charge of preparing nutritious meals and managing the Company kitchen. He works alongside SGMC’s nutritionist to help patients receive special meals while they are undergoing treatment, and he knows many of the dietary tricks needed to combat the side effects. In addition to making meals for around 50 people per day, Nico also ensures that families and patients waiting for treatment get served light refreshments.

Olivia Owusua Addo - HR Manager

Olivia Owusua Addo is our caring Human Resource Officer and a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP). She holds an EDEXCEL National Diploma in Social Care with Psychology from the Newham College, Eastham-London, a BA (Hons) Human Resource Management and an Msc in International Business Management, all at the University of East London Business School, Docklands, UK. Back in the UK, Olivia worked for five years at the Barts Health NHS Trust- London as a Health Care Support worker and later on as an Employee Relations Officer. Olivia’s keen interest is in the concept of emotional labor – the regulation of employee emotions and expression for organizational purpose. In 2015 and after over 10 years in the UK, Olivia made the decision to relocate back to Ghana. Olivia added an extra dose of empathy to SGMC when she joined the Business Services team in 2016. Employees are frequently seen in her office for friendly and professional advice and support on various HR issues. She supports with the employee life cycle i.e. recruiting, screening and interviewing process of new employees. Olivia is also largely responsible for drafting employee policies and making sure all staff get the career support and training they need. She makes it a point of attending all social events – from weddings, funerals, to baby-naming ceremonies – to represent the company. She also handles the complex logistics for our interns and locums who are coming from abroad.

Sampson Okyere Darko - Accounts Cashier

Sampson Okyere Darko was hired onto the Financial Team in 2015 as a Cashier, where he is primarily responsible for handling client payments in a friendly and efficient manner. He processes all payments and adjustments through the accounting system while validating necessary documentation. Sampson is also in charge of handling petty cash requests for approval and disbursement. He works closely with the Accounts Officer to prepare cheques for signature, and he performs daily cash reconciliation and bank deposits – keeping proper records of all transactions.

Stephen Ampaw - Housekeeping Supervisor

Stephen Ampaw is the supervisor for SGMC’s housekeeping team. He joined SGMC in 2013. It is Stephen’s responsibility to create schedules for housekeeping staff and to ensure their work is done in accordance with high standards of infection control and hygiene.  Stephen also manages housekeeping equipment and cleaning consumables.

Willbright Aware - ICT Officer

Willbright Aware joined SGMC in 2014, and after working in various roles in, he was promoted to the position of ICT Officer in November 2017. Willbright is our IT system Administrator and ensures the smooth installation and configuration of SGMC servers and other devices, maintaining the day to day operations and smooth running of the Company’s ICT network, and also manage the Company’s Website. He is the go-to person for all IT helpdesk issues. Willbright has a Diploma in System Engineering, CompTIA A +, Linux Fundamentals, CCNA, Server Infrastructure (Level 1 and 2). Currently, he is pursuing a Degree program in System Engineering (Level 4) at Ghana Christian University College. Willbright has also dedicated himself to helping train all our staff to be more proficient with computer technology, and is currently running IT skills workshops for our housekeepers and security.

Issah Alhassan - Security Guard

Issah Alhassan is one of SGMC’s security guards; he worked for the company prior to 2014, then rejoined the security team in 2016. Issah’s job responsibilities include patrolling and inspecting the property; monitoring visitor and staff activities; inspecting building, equipment and access points; as well as preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities.

Segbedzi David Dodzi - Lead Security Guard

David Dodzi Segbedzi is one of SGMC’s security guards; he joined the original security team in 2011. David’s job responsibilities include patrolling and inspecting the property; monitoring visitor and staff activities; inspecting building, equipment and access points; as well as preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities.

Andrews Doku - Security Guard

Andrews Doku is one of SGMC’s security guards; he joined the team in 2012. Andrews’ job responsibilities include patrolling and inspecting the property; monitoring visitor and staff activities; inspecting building, equipment and access points; as well as preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities.

Daniel Okyere - Housekeeper

Daniel Okyere joined SGMC as a housekeeper in 2018. Our SGMC housekeeping team is continuously busy dusting, mopping, and sweeping patient reception and treatment areas, clinical planning and imaging units as well as administrative offices. They maintain a very high level of cleanliness and hygiene and are all specially trained in infection control practices and patient caregiving support. Danny-Boy plays an all-rounder role, working hard alongside housekeeping and infection control, and also acting as a catering assistant in our kitchen.
